Guided by our customer-first principles enshrined in the
DMA Code, the DMA champions a fusion of technology, diverse talent, creativity and insight to set standards for the UK’s data and marketing community to meet in order to thrive.
The DMA has played a major role in the shaping of data protection laws and standards in the UK and the EU as well as leading the implementation in our industry as the trusted source for advice and guidance.
As such we have been appointed by the UK government as a trusted convenor of an independent industry roundtable to interrogate recent consultation on data protection reform.
seeks to create a pro-growth, innovation-friendly data protection regime – balancing the needs of business and customer privacy.
The roundtable takes place on and will draw out what is important to our industry, the customers it serves and the future economy.
The session covers topics with a direct impact on building successful customer relationships; both in terms of greater certainty around customer acquisition or retention, and safeguards for customers to ensure trust is earned and maintained over time.
We will explore these areas and focus on critical issues in Chapter 1 around Legitimate Interest and Recitals (particularly recital 47); and proposals in Chapter 2 that focus on business burdens and delivering better outcomes for people.
The roundtable will shape the DMA’s formal response to
the consultation.
It will be recorded so we can share edited sights and
thoughts with the wider community to engage them in the consultation process.
We will submit a formal response to the consultation by the deadline of and would encourage you to share your perspective via the roundtable.
